Professional Summary

Mirna Champ represents California workers across all areas of employment law as a post-bar law clerk at Bluestone Law (pending California Bar admission). Her practice centers on enforcing employee rights under the Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA), California’s wage-and-hour protections, and representative actions under the Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA).

Background and Experience

Mirna earned her J.D. from Golden Gate University School of Law and completed her final two years of study at the University of San Francisco School of Law. She built her litigation foundation at a Los Angeles civil litigation firm, where she researched and drafted motions, memoranda, and discovery on complex fraud, contract, and construction matters.

She contributed to a complex breach of contract matter with approximately $2.7 million in controversy, resulting in a favorable judgment and ongoing appellate proceedings regarding attorney’s fees. She also contributed to the defense of a contract matter involving nearly $2 million in alleged damages, supporting a motion for judgment that challenged alter ego liability and sought to eliminate all claims against the individual defendant, which resulted in a favorable outcome for the client.

Judicial Internship

Mirna served as a judicial intern at the Santa Clara County Superior Court, where she supported her assigned judge across a full civil docket, including law-and-motion hearings, case management conferences. On days her judge was off the bench for chambers work, she observed proceedings before other judges across the court, gaining broad exposure to civil and criminal practice and to the judicial decision-making process.

Immigration and Pro Bono Work

Before joining Bluestone, Mirna represented detained asylum seekers and humanitarian relief applicants through the USF Immigration Law Clinic and the AIDS Legal Referral Panel, drafting oppositions, preparing declarations and country-conditions evidence, and appearing at master calendar and individual hearings. She secured asylum for a detained client and helped shape a policy proposal advocating for a dedicated immigration attorney position within the Marin County Public Defender’s Office.

Languages and Approach

Mirna is a native Spanish speaker and fluent in Portuguese, enabling her to advocate directly for clients across California’s diverse workforce. She believes employment law is where workplace fairness is made real, and that every worker, regardless of background or language, deserves a lawyer who will fight for them.

Outside Work

Outside work, Mirna dances samba and bachata, plays pool, and was a 2025 McGrath Graduate Fellow, traveling to Cambodia and Thailand to work with women-led cooperatives and Jesuit Refugee Service programs.
